Your funeral service in Stockholm
When a relative passes away, life, as we know it, changes completely. As bereaved, you may be faced with several questions at once, and you may experience difficulties and confusion with how to proceed. Stockholms Begravningstjänst can help you with all the practicalities surrounding the funeral, or only specific parts, depending on how involved you can or would like to be. As part of our service, we provide individualised funeral packages, guided by your preferences. We protect the interest of all our clients and provide clarity and price transparency on the services we offer.
What to do when someone passes away
According to Swedish legislation, the deceased must be cremated or buried within 30 days after passing away. However, it is possible to have a funeral service with an urn at a later date, subject to the cremation being completed within the permitted 30 days.
Swedish legislation requests that the funeral service and burial take place within one year after cremation. Due to these regulations, we recommend that you start planning the funeral as soon as possible. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We offer free consultations.
Organising a funeral service
At Stockholms Begravningstjänst, we adjust our services to meet your specific needs. Some of our clients prefer to go through the practical arrangements in person, either at one of our offices or during a home visit. Others prefer making arrangements over telephone or E-Mail. There are no rights or wrongs, and whatever option you choose, we have the experience to provide you with the support you need.
Planning and Prices
When it comes to funeral cost, there are certain elements that are compulsory – for example, certain transports and services. However, you may have requests that alter the final price, such as publishing an obituary, arranging a funeral reception, booking a musician, producing a program sheet for the service, or ordering flower arrangements. We will go through such options with you and provide you with a written copy of your choices along with preliminary costs. All service fees are fixed, and no hidden costs are added on later. The written document gives you the opportunity to sit down in peace and quiet to go through your selections and to identify if there is anything you would like to add or take away. At this point, you are free to make any changes you want. We will not carry out any services before you have approved the document.
